  • Browsing in the context of the internet typically means you will use a web browser. This can be with a specific purpose, such as using email or updating your status on a social media site, or just using the web with no purpose in particular, as in, "Oh, I'm just browsing."  Click the links below one at a time to start the tutorials.


    • A browser is a free software package or mobile app that displays web pages, graphics, and most online content. Click the link to start the tutorial to learn about using a Web Browser. 

      When you click on the link a pop up will appear.  Complete the tutorial, close the pop up window and return to the course.  Now you are ready to move on to 'Understanding Hyperlinks?'.

    • Hyperlinks are clickable links take you from one web page to another, to a different section of the same web page, or allow you to download a document. Hyperlinks are an important part of the World Wide Web. Click the link to start the tutorial to learn about Hyperlinks.

    • Downloading means receiving data or a file from the Internet on your computer. Uploading means sending data or a file from your computer to somewhere on the Internet. Click the link to start the tutorial to learn about Downloading and Uploading.

    • There are many different search engines you can use on the Internet that allow you to search for content using keywords. Click the link to start the tutorial to learn about Using Search Engines.

    • A URL (Uniform Resource Locator) is defined as the address of a web page or resource on the Internet. It is also called the web address. Click the link to start the tutorial Understanding URL's.
