The Greenock Cut
Inverclyde has some excellent walking. We have a beautiful coastline, historic towns and a national park all on our doorstep. Below are a few ideas for places to walk.
The Greenock Cut
Clydemuirshiel is Scotland’s largest regional park (108 square miles) and is still relatively unknown for walkers. The Greenock Cut is a popular part of Clydemuirshiel. The visitor centre exhibition tells the story of the Greenock Cut. There are facilities including a car park, toilets and a café. In the exhibition centre you can pick up leaflets detailing the walks around this area. The scenery is stunning and remote and there are lots of easily followed paths to walk on. The Greenock Cut can be readily accessed from various points throughout Inverclyde.
A regular bus, every 30 minute connects with the Overton entrance to the Cut. Bus leaves every 30 minutes from Stance 6, Kilblain Street Bus Station, in the centre of Greenock. Every hour on Sundays.
